The Newton Farmers' Market history began in the 1980's, started by local attorney and Chamber of Commerce member Herbert S. Selby. The market features a variety of vendors and has something for everyone. Join the market on the north side of the Square between Uncle Nancy’s and North of Farmer’s Wife.

Join Our Library Scavenger Hunt for All Ages! Explore the library with your friends and family in this fun virtual scavenger hunt! The game will be run through the GooseChase app—simply download the free app to your phone, create your team name and start earning points by completing challenges. The game will run September 1 - 20. Participants can join the game by following these simple steps: 1. Download the GooseChase iOS or Android app to your phone or mobile device 2. Create an account with a username & the password of your choice. 3. Search for and select the Love Your Library Scavenger Hunt - Newton, Iowa game, or search by game code L71B64. 4. Follow the prompts to create your team. Teams can be just one person playing as an individual, a group of friends, or the entire family. The top 3 teams will win movie tickets to the Capitol II Theatre for the whole family!
