City Street Snow Removal & Downtown Snow Hauling Operations and Parking Restrictions

City Street Snow Removal & Parking Restrictions:

On street parking is prohibited (except in the Downtown Snow Removal District) when snow removal operations are declared. Snow plowing operations will be declared at 2 inches of accumulation, measured at the Public Works/Parks Garage (1700 N 4th Ave W). 

The Public Works Operations Superintendent (or designee) declares the snow removal operations by turning on the telephone snow line, placing an alert on the city’s website and notifying the media. Call (641) 791-SNOW (7669) or visit the city’s website to see if snow removal operations are active. Posts may be made on social media as supplemental information.

Ticketing of vehicles parked on city streets, will begin when snow removal operations are declared. Vehicles may not be parked on the street before snow removal operations are complete. Snow plowing operations remain in effect until the Public Works Operations Superintendent (or designee) has declared them to be over.

Downtown Snow Hauling & Parking Restrictions:

Downtown snow hauling takes place overnight. The declaration must be made by 7 p.m. the evening of hauling operation. 

The Public Works Operations Superintendent (or designee) declares the downtown snow hauling operations by turning on the downtown snow removal district line, placing an alert on the city’s website and notifying the media. Posts may be made on social media as supplemental information. Call (641) 792-0411 or visit the city’s website to see if downtown snow hauling is in effect.

Parking is prohibited in the Downtown Snow Removal District between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. when downtown snow hauling operations are declared and the downtown snow removal district line has been activated.
