[ARCHIVED] Flushing Hydrants 4/29/22 & 4/30/22

The Newton WaterWorks to flush hydrants on Friday April 29th & Saturday April 30, 2022.

On Friday 10pm until 6am Saturday morning - North of 1st Ave & Bittersweet Subdivision.

On Saturday 10pm until 6am Sunday morning - South of 1st Ave.

Hydrants are flushed several times a year to clear the water mains of internal corrosion and residue which naturally builds up in water mains.  While no interruptions in water service will occur, customers may experience some drop in pressure or some discoloration of their water.  The discoloration will clear up in a few minutes if the cold-water tap is allowed to run.  Do not run hot water or do laundry until cold water side is clear.

Some customers may have questions why all hydrants are not flushed.  Only those that provide the greatest flow and those that are on dead ends are opened.  Should customers of Newton, Lambs Grove or surrounding areas have questions or concers, they may contact the WaterWorks at 641-792-2003 or 641-792-7351.
