[ARCHIVED] Park Playgrounds & Restroom Opening June 1; Guidelines for Use

Playground Guidelines starting June 1

Staying physically active is one of the best ways to keep your mind and body healthy. In many areas, people can visit parks, trails, and open spaces as a way to relieve stress, get some fresh air and vitamin D, stay active, and safely connect with others. Playgrounds and restrooms in Newton parks will open on June 1. Practice social distancing and take everyday steps such as washing hands often and covering coughs and sneezes. We encourage the following guidelines for use of the playground equipment:

  • Do not use the playground equipment if you or your children are sick.
  • Keep your distance (at least six feet) from others who live in your household. Social distancing at the parks and on playground equipment is still a preventive measure that can keep you and your family safe.
  • Face masks are encouraged but not required.
  • Playground equipment is not disinfected. We encourage you to use hand sanitizer or disinfecting wipes to keep you and your family healthy.
  • Wash your hands after playground use - whether it’s with hand sanitizer or at home using soap & water.
