The Newton American Legion Post 111 wants to honor the military personnel who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Over the weekend, they will visit all the cemeteries in Jasper County, Iowa. Community members are welcome to join them in visiting the cemeteries. A special memorial ceremony will be on Monday, May 29th, at 10:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery's veterans' section. The service will occur at the American Legion Post 111 if it rains. The speaker at the service will be Doug Bishop.
