The Red Bulls of Iowa

Monday, October 12, 2020

Join author and historian, Michael Eckers, for a look at one of the Midwest's most revered Army Divisions, The Red Bulls. Formed from Iowan and Minnesotan soldiers, the Red Bulls were the first American troops to be sent to Europe after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Nicknamed for the distinctive red patch on their uniforms, these hardy Midwestern soldiers were beloved by their commanders and respected by their enemies. In this presentation, Eckers will share the history of the unit, as well as some of the many stories about these brave men. This presentation is open to the public and is free to attend. No registration required, but seating is limited. This program is sponsored by the Newton Public Library Foundation.
