Matt Muckler assumed the role of City Administrator for the City of Newton in January 2017. With a wealth of experience and a solid educational background, Matt brings valuable expertise to his position.
Before joining the City of Newton, Matt served as the City Administrator for the City of West Branch, IA, and as the Assistant to the Town Manager for Buckeye, AZ. He also has a distinguished background in public service, having previously served as a state representative in the Missouri Legislature and as a Russian linguist in the U.S. Army.
Matt's educational achievements include a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Saint Louis University and a Master's in Public Administration from Indiana State University. His dedication to professional growth is evident through his credentials and affiliations. Matt is an International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Credentialed Manager, demonstrating his commitment to the highest standards of professional excellence. He is also an active Iowa City/County Management Association member.
In addition to his managerial expertise, Matt has pursued specialized certifications to enhance his knowledge and capabilities. He is a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), holding certifications as an Iowa Certified Municipal Clerk and an Iowa Certified Municipal Finance Officer through the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association (IMFOA).
