Exploration Week

exploration weekExploration Week (June 27 – July 1) is for kid’s ages 8 – 12 years old. Activities take place from 9 – 11 a.m. each day at various locations in Newton. There are twenty spots available per day. Camp fee is $6 per day or $25 for the whole week.

Monday, June 27ART DAY with Centre for Arts & Artists! Get creative in creating your own artworks. Kids will get the opportunity to paint splatter, build their own sculptures, and make their own stickers! Wear clothes that you’re not afraid to get paint on. This will be hosted at the Centre for Arts & Artists (501 W 3rd St N).
Tuesday, June 28COOKING DAY with Newton’s DMACC Culinary Arts Program. Kids will get to learn how to cook and learn about foods! This will be hosted at DMACC Newton Campus (600 N 2nd Ave W).
Wednesday, June 29BIRD DAY with Jasper County Conservation. Want to learn about birds? Come join us in seeing a live hawk or fledging owl! Kids will also get the opportunity to dissect an owl pellets and determine what the owls ate. This will be hosted at the Jasper County Conservation building at 1030 W 2nd St S.
Thursday, June 30GARDEN DAY with ISU Extension and Outreach Master Gardeners. Kids will get the opportunity to tour the garden, do some crafts, and learn about gardening, about prepping garden foods, and how to grow for the food pantry. This will be hosted at ISU Extension and Outreach Offices and DMACC Newton Campus. Address is 550 N 2nd Ave W. 
Friday, July 1TEAM COMPETITION DAY with the City of Newton’s Community Services Department. Join us for some team building friendly games! Play with team members to see who can receive points in relay races, a mini scavenger hunt, and other games! We will end the day with a huge water balloon fight! This will be hosted at Aurora Park at 2111 1st Ave E.
