Fire Apparatus
In 2011 the Insurance Services Organization (ISO) conducted a survey of the fire suppression capabilities of the Newton Fire Department. The Department maintained a classification of a 4. This classification is used by insurance companies to set insurance rates for the citizens and businesses of Newton. The lower the rating, the lower the insurance rates for our community. A rating of 4 is in the top 2.6% of fire departments in the State of Iowa and the top 15.3% nationally.

To uphold this high standard, our Department utilizes 4 engine and 1 ladder truck in our fire protection efforts. Below are descriptions of each vehicle and how each is utilized to protect the property and citizens of Newton.
