Buddy Bear
Buddy Bear was first introduced on May 15, 1991 during Police Week. During this time, over 400 bears have been given out to children in distressing situations.

Child Safety Seat Inspections
The Newton Police Department has one National Child Passenger Safety Technician that can help you install your child's car seat correctly. Call (641) 791-0850 to make an appointment.

Citizen Police Academy
The purpose of the academy is to provide an educational opportunity for citizens to learn first hand about police operations and to gain a deeper understanding of today’s law enforcement functions.

Emergency Notification (WENS Alert Iowa)
Residents and businesses are encouraged to sign up for WENS/Alert Iowa Alerts to receive timely emergency notifications when alerts are issued.

The Newton Police Department provides fingerprinting services to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Safety City
The Newton Police Department offers Safety City for all kindergartners. Safety City is a miniature city that allows students to experience various traffic situations in a safe and protected manner.

Summer Youth Academy
The goal of the Summer Youth Police Academy is to promote youth interest in law enforcement as a career. To date, a total of 198 students have graduated from the Summer Youth Police Academy.

Vacation House Check
If your plans take you out of town or away from home for a period of time, please let the Newton Police Department know that your residence will be unoccupied while you are gone.

Victim Request for Registration
