Fire Fighting

Our fire department personnel will respond to various calls this year from providing additional manpower on ambulance calls to extinguishing vechicle and wildland fires to fires on commercial or residential structure alarms. Average initial response to these incidents requires an engine company manned with one officer and two firefighters accompanied by the aerial ladder with two firefighters. Each fire response also calls for an ambulance to be present at the scene.

The fire department has one station serving the City of Newton and staffs seven fire personnel per shift in a three-shift rotation of 24 hours each. Pictured below are the emergency response vehicles housed at the Newton Fire Department.
