Mayor

Charles "Chaz" Allen is serving his second term as Mayor of the City of Newton.

Chaz is married to Teri and has two daughters, Morgan and Madeline. Chaz, a Northwest Missouri State
University graduate, is currently a Government Relations Specialist for Iowa Telecom. Before assuming the
duties of Government Relations Specialist, Chaz was the Billing Operations Manager before becoming the
Revenue Assurance Manager for Iowa Telecom. Before moving back to Newton, Chaz worked in several
capacities for MCI, Hy-Vee Food Stores and taught Legal Aspects of Management at Kirkwood Community
College in Cedar Rapids.

Allen will remain active in the community while also assuming the duties of Mayor, belonging to Newton Rotary
as a member and on the Board of Directors and Jasper County Empowerment Board of Directors. Chaz has
also served in a capacity with the national Communication Fraud Control Association. Chaz is a graduate of
the Newton's Chamber Alliance Leadership Newton and served on Mayor Aldridge's Blue Ribbon Committee
on Newton's Governance.
