Will I be able to check out materials during the renovations?
During the renovations, all of the library's materials will be moved to off-site storage, excluding new materials that are delivered to the library during this time period. These new items may be checked out, but you will need to place a hold on the item first, using the library catalog or by calling the library. Library staff will then contact you when your item is ready for pick up.
Items that have already been moved to off-site storage will not be accessible to library staff or the public. You may still place holds on these materials during the renovations, but we will not fulfill these holds until the library re-opens in late May.
When are my library materials due?
Beginning in March, most materials will have an extended due date of May 23rd. DVDs and a selection of other materials will continue to check out for their regular lending period. Your check out receipt will show the correct due date for your library materials before and during the renovations. DVD check outs will pause after March 17th, until the library re-opens in May. If you have questions about your specific items, please contact the library at (641) 792.4108.
Due to space restrictions during the renovations, we ask that you keep your library materials at home until we re-open in May. Please avoid returning materials to the library book drop or office during this time.
Can I request new materials or order books for my book club?
Yes! To request new materials, please contact the Library at (641) 792.4108 or complete our online materials request form. Book club requests may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org . Please note, we will not be ordering new DVDs during the renovations.
Will the library have public computer access?
The library will not have public computer stations available during the renovations. Those who need computer access for job applications or work related purposes, may utilize the computers at the Goodwill Career Connection Center. The library will continue to have wifi access in the lobby during this time.
Can I access eBooks, Freegal Music, and databases during this time?
Yes! We encourage Newton and rural Jasper county residents to take advantage of our digital resources during the renovations! For more information on these services, please see our Digital Resources page.
Where will storytimes be held?

Can I still use the library wifi?
Yes! Public wifi will be accessible in the library lobby, along with the daily newspaper.
Will I be able to make copies and send faxes?
